Have you ever gone to a forest, a park or a woodland and just listened? A great way to connect with nature is to take a trip to a forest or park and pause and listen. Anew video has been released that shows 10 years of activity on the surface of the Sun compressed into just over 60 minutes. NASA, the US space agency, made the video from images taken by one of its spacecraft, called the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The SDO was launched on 11 February 2010 to observe the Sun from a high orbit above the Earth. Since then, it has taken more than 425 million pictures of the Sun’s surface, helping scientists learn more about it. NASA has put some of these images together into an hour-long video. Several white actors who provide the voices for well-known cartoon characters have resigned from their roles. Earlier this year, Hank Azaria, a white actor, said that he would stop playing the Indian-American Apu in The Simpsons. The makers of the show have now said that they will “no longer have white actors voice non-white characters”. These characters include Dr Hibbert (voiced by Harry Shearer) and Carl Carlson (voiced by Azaria). Meanwhile, white actor Kristen Bell, who voiced Anna in Frozen, has said she will stop voicing a mixed-race character in the grown-up cartoon series Central Park. Electronics are in everything around us, whether it’s simple devices such as radios and torches or more complicated machines such as laptops and mobile phones. Learning how electronic circuits work doesn’t have to be difficult, and there are fun experiments and activities you can do at home to help build your knowledge and confidence. A basic electronic circuit is a course that lets electric current travel through it to do a useful job, such as lighting a bulb. Thanks to the coronavirus outbreak, people have spent a lot of time at home over the past few months. Hong Kong is a region of China on the country’s south coast. In 1842, Britain took control of Hong Kong Island, which was an important centre for trade. Staff at an Asda supermarket in Carmarthenshire, Wales, found a tiny frog in a bunch of bananas. It is thought that the frog, now named Asda, is a banana tree frog. The fruit where it was found came from Colombia, a country in South America 5,000 miles away. The staff reported their find to the RSPCA. It is now being looked after in Pembrokeshire, Wales, and feasting on crickets and flies. RSPCA inspector Gemma Cooper said, “I thought I’d seen everything – but this banana-drama was a new one for me.”…

Schoolreaders Schoolreaders is a charity that sends volunteers into primary schools, where they give one-to-one reading lessons for free. The aim is to make sure that every pupil can read well by the age of 11, when they leave primary school. Last year, one in four children left primary school unable to read to a good standard. The Schoolreaders volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds and they read with students in 1,000 schools all around the country. Up to 15 shows made by young people are being broadcast on major TV channels, starting from 8 July. They are all winners of the See Yourself on Screen Challenge, created by the British Film Institute (BFI) through its Young Audiences Content Fund. The BFI is a charity that supports film and television production in the UK. In May, the BFI asked people between the ages of four and 18 to send in a 30-second video for a TV show inspired by their lives during lockdown.
