This year marks 50 years since the Glastonbury Festival was first held. The festival would have taken place this year on 25–29 June at Worthy Farm, Somerset, England, where it happens almost every year. This year, the coronavirus outbreak meant that the event had to be cancelled.
What is Glastonbury?
Glastonbury is one of the world’s biggest music and performing arts festivals. Last year, 250,000 people of all ages flocked to Worthy Farm. Adele, Beyoncé and Stormzy are some of the world-famous artists who have performed as the headline act on Glastonbury’s main stage, and lots of musicians have played there before they were famous, including Ed Sheeran, who played in 2011. The festival is also famous for its performing arts, comedy, food and colourful culture.
