A SPECIAL RETIREMENT
On 15 June, the longest-serving Lancashire police horse retired. Darwen, who is 21 years old, has moved to Buckinghamshire, where he’ll now be looked after by the Horse Trust. Police sergeant Adam Pearson said he was sad to see his “wonderful colleague” go.

Tom Monaghan, a 94-year-old shop owner in Dublin in Ireland, has said that reopening his business on 8 June was one of the “happiest days of his life”. The shop, Monaghans Cashmere, was forced to close on 19 March for the first time in its 60-year history, because of the coronavirus lockdown.
