CALIFORNIAN SURFERS
The sea in California, US, has been glowing blue at night, to the delight of surfers. The rare event happens every few years because of bioluminescence, which is when living things glow. Organisms in the water, called algae, give off light when they are disturbed.
LOTTIE AND HER GRANDFATHER
On 3 May, Lottie Cooper, aged 12, and her 75-year-old grandfather, Ray Hall, raised more than £5,000 for a cancer charity. They raised the money by doing a two-mile walk in separate parts of England where they live. Cooper said, “I can’t wait to see Grandpa and give him a huge hug. He did so well!”
