For the past year, Karen Jenner from Nova Scotia, in Canada, has walked along her local beaches picking up plastic waste. In that time, she has collected more than 2,200 kilograms of plastic. Jenner was inspired to act after seeing the amount of plastic that had washed ashore. Going down to the beach two or three times a week, Jenner often sees the same types of items, but she says it’s “neat when you find something different”. She recently found a plastic bag from 1979. The plastic activist hopes her actions will inspire others, but you don’t need to collect as much as she does. Jenner says, “All you need to do is, if you see something where it shouldn’t be, pick it up – anybody can do that.”…
