A rhea has been on the run in Oxfordshire since the middle of December, according to police. The large, flightless bird is thought to have escaped from a farm. Because of their strength and big claws they can be dangerous, and the rhea, named Chris, after the singer Chris Rea, has avoided police officers sent to capture him.

● HABITAT: Grassland and open woodlands of South America.
● DIET: Almost anything. Birds, crops, fruits, insects, lizards, plants and seeds.
● FUN FACT: During the winter, rheas flock with other animals, such as deer, to form mixed herds.
