Computer painting sells for £330,000
A portrait painted by a computer has sold for more than £330,000 at an auction in New York, US. The picture, called Portrait of Edmond Belamy, sold for far more than the original asking price of around £5,000. It was made using a program that let the computer compare its painting with 15,000 portraits painted between the 14th and 20th centuries. The computer knew the painting was finished when it compared it to the real paintings and couldn’t tell them apart.
