War bomb safely defused
Around 10,000 people were moved from their homes on 3 July after an unexploded Second World War bomb was found in Potsdam, Germany. The bomb weighed 250 kilograms and was safely defused later that day. The Second World War ended in 1945, so the bomb is more than 70 years old. Unexploded bombs are still commonly found in Germany, especially during building work.

In the last two weeks, more than 270,000 Syrians have escaped bombing in southern Syria, in the Deraa province.
