The extra money that Vote Leave is claimed to have spent is alleged to have gone to an organisation called AggregateIQ (AIQ). Vote Leave spent around 40% of its total budget with AIQ, which analysed data and worked on advertisements for Vote Leave and other political organisations. The organisation is closely linked to Cambridge Analytica, which is being examined for its role in the US presidential election in 2016. Some people say Cambridge Analytica used information from Facebook users, such as personal preferences and interests, to make advertisements designed to target and influence millions of voters.…

London’s air pollution A new type of bench capable of cleaning up the air in urban areas has been unveiled in London. Called the CityTree, the four-metre-tall seat contains air sensors and a vertical garden filled with moss, which acts like a filter, removing harmful pollutants from the air. Recycling Research has found that the UK public are confused over what can and can’t be recycled. Dirty kitchen roll, plastic soap-dispenser tops and some types of wrapping paper were wrongly thought by many to be recyclable. How do I get started? Join a running group, or start one yourself and see who’s interested in collecting litter on the way. Perhaps just go on your own with a parent or guardian. You don’t have to run – you could just walk around your neighbourhood. What do I need to bring? Around 700,000 people in the UK are autistic. Autism is a condition that affects how people see, hear, feel and think, and it can cause difficulties when it comes to communicating with others. Everyday life can be challenging for autistic people and they may behave unusually as a result. Autism is described as a spectrum condition. This means that people who have it can be affected in a wide range of ways – although they will have some difficulties in common. Art can be created and enjoyed by anyone and everyone, regardless of age, gender or ability. The Unique Art Awards is a competition that has been set up for disabled people between the ages of seven and 21. There are two age categories in this year’s competition, which follows the “My World” theme. Children aged seven to 15 and young people between 16 and 21 are encouraged to create a painting, photograph, 3D sculpture, digital art or a piece of original music to illustrate the theme. Billy the lamb is a bit different to his siblings: he is a staggering five times bigger. The big baby sheep was born on 9 March at a farm in Upper Broughton, Leicestershire. When he arrived, he weighed 11.2 kilograms, whereas his brothers from the same litter weighed just two kilograms. The farmer, Steve Booth, said he needed to call his daughter to help pull the large lamb out of its mother. If you were a bit tired after losing an hour’s sleep last weekend, then spare a thought for Roman and Maz Piekarski. The brothers own Cuckooland Museum in Cheshire, which has 700 clocks on display, making it the largest of its kind in the world. When the clocks went forward on 25 March, the pair spent 12 hours changing the time on all the museum’s exhibits. Trained as clockmasters from the age of 15, the Piekarski brothers have been collecting clocks for more than four decades. Their collection comes from Germany’s Black Forest, and the oldest one dates back 250 years. International Space Station The International Space Station (ISS) is the largest man-made object in space. It orbits Earth at an altitude of between 205 and 270 miles and has been home to astronauts for more than 18 years – but it won’t be used after 2024. The Deep Space Gateway Nasa and a team of international partners are planning a replacement for the ISS called the Deep Space Gateway by the late 2020s. This space station will orbit the Moon, and it is hoped that it will help astronauts on a mission to Mars. According to the Food Standards Agency, around seven million tonnes of food and drink are thrown away in the UK every year. Many items are disposed of because they have reached the manufacturer’s “best before” date – despite the food or drink usually being perfectly fine for a few days after this. To try to combat this problem, a company called Mimica has created a label that becomes bumpy when food starts to rot. It works by reacting to changes in the food and its temperature. When the item goes bad, it breaks down the gelatin layer in the label, causing it to become bumpy. When this happens, it means the food or drink is no longer safe to eat.…

National Trust Days Out Android / iOS (Free) Spring hasn’t quite sprung yet, but it’s on the way. If you’re itching to get out and about during the Easter holidays, the National Trust’s official app is a good way to research interesting places for you and your family to visit. The app has details of nearly 600 castles, landmarks and other historical sites across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Eight years ago, Kiko Matthews was given a life-changing diagnosis when she found out she had Cushing’s syndrome. Cushing’s is a disease that can have a serious impact on the sufferer’s life; at times, Matthews was so weak she’d struggle to climb a flight of stairs. She was unwilling to let the illness change her life, however, and became determined that no challenge would be too big for her. So it was that on 22 March, Matthews arrived at the sunny island of Barbados, after rowing across the Atlantic Ocean on her own in record-breaking time. Humans get two sets of teeth: one set of baby teeth (or milk teeth), and another adult set. Each tooth is held in place by its roots, spiky bits of tooth that dig into our gums. When the milk teeth get wobbly, it’s because they’ve been pushed up by the adult teeth growing underneath them. This makes the roots of the milk teeth dissolve. Without roots, the tooth becomes wobbly and a visit from the tooth fairy becomes ever more likely. Milk teeth wobbling and falling out is nothing to worry about and is a totally normal part of growing up. That film is Antz, a witty comedy about an ant trying to break free from the crowd. It’s from the early days of computer animated films and it feels quite raw, but that just adds to its charm. We wore helmets and vests and walked up 90 stairs through scaffolding – there is also a lift, but unfortunately we did not use it.
