Ferocious snowstorm hits New York
Record-breaking low temperatures have hit the east coast of North America, with snowstorms causing major damage and disruption. The bad weather has been blamed for at least 22 deaths. On 4 and 5 January, New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport temporarily closed due to snow, ice and harsh winds, and schools and government offices also shut. In the southeast of the US, Tallahassee in Florida experienced its first measurable snow since 1989.
