Tucked away in the snow-covered landscape of Tinn, in Norway's Telemark county, a modest 1880s cottage offers Inger Marie Grini, her partner Øystein, and their daughter Mari, a peaceful escape from city life in the country's capital, Oslo. What began as a weekend retreat slowly transformed into a labour of love, shaped by paintbrushes, patience, and a shared passion for the past.
“We'd been renting the smallholding from my uncle since 2009,” says Inger Marie. “Back then, we were living in a flat in Oslo, and the cottage became our garden, a place to get away. You can hear the babble of the river when you're out here.”
