LOOKING BACK BRIT Vs US CROSSWORDS Arthur Wynne, the crossword's inventor, was British, though migrated to the States in the late 19th century. Early clues were mostly definitional. However, in 1925, The Daily Telegraph published the first 'cryptic' crossword (and then had an almost unbroken lineage of female crossword editors until 2009). My garden is my passion. I work in healthcare during evenings and weekends, so I get to enjoy much of my day in it. I've been slowly redeveloping it over the past three years. What was previously lawn is now densely planted with three cobbled paths. This path leads to a small wildlife pond and pergola with seating.
