This year has been a tumultuous one, not least because of political controversies, natural disasters and, of course, some not-so-natural ones. In a cruel work of fate, the world of luxury watches has also been forced to suffer: China’s crackdown on corruption, and its introduction of a ban on gift-giving by party officials, has sent shockwaves through the industry, causing luxury watch sales to plummet and some in Switzerland to scratch their heads.
