Teenager Rune Bobbaers was diagnosed with the autoimmune illness type 1 diabetes before he was old enough to start school. Curiosity about how insulin is used to manage his glucose levels and keep his body in check led Rune to investigate how to create his own dosage pump so he could understand how it operates. QUICK TIP If you want to create a very optimised solar Meshtastic node, other MCUs such as the RAK family of Meshtastic boards are very efficient. In the first part of this guide (in issue 152), we set up a Raspberry Pi Pico W with a Waveshare SX1262 LoRa Node Module.
