PATTERN NOTES The garment is worked in the round throughout, with steeks cast on for the armhole and neck. Decreases are worked each side of the neck to form a V-neck. The shoulders are joined using a three-needle cast-off. Steeks are worked over 9 sts. SHORT ROWS are used to shape pieces of knitting, and are typically seen in sock heels, bust shaping, shawl collars, and to give more height at the back neck of sweaters. Short rows are effectively partial rows; instead of working to the end of every row, you work back and forth over small areas to add extra fabric. The wrap-and-turn method is the most familiar method of short-row shaping, as it’s simple and effective. However, there are lots of other techniques to try, which you may find more natural to work or easier to memorise, or which will give you a neater result in the knitted fabric.
