Experts predict the annual display will be ahead of schedule this year thanks to the hot, dry summer, so plan garden visits now. One garden renowned for its colourful autumn foliage is Ramster, the much-admired woodland garden in Surrey, where you’ll see mature Japanese maples, fiery liquidambars and cornus covered with ruby fruits among the 1,500 catalogued plants within the garden’s 25 acres.
