London has been spoiled this year with major exhibitions from Hockney, Dalí and Duchamp. To that incredible list we can add Cézanne Portraits (October 26 to February 11, Trafalgar Square, London; npg.org.uk) where 50 of his portraits are exhibited together for the first time.
Yet more portraiture is at Soutine’s Portraits: Cooks, Waiters & Bellboys (until January 21, Aldwych, London; courtauld.ac.uk) which brings together the Russian expressionist’s paintings from Paris in the 1920s and 1930s.
Adventures In Moominland has been one of the most enchanting exhibitions of the year, but Tove Jansson (October 25 to January 28, Dulwich, London; dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk) shows there is more to the Finnish artist behind them.
