According to a recent study, 15,000 young people will be homeless this Christmas – and many of them are forced to take desperate measures.
In the last few weeks, The Big Issue has reported that more young people than ever are resorting to desperate measures, after becoming homeless through no fault of their own.
With many forced to sleep rough, the survey found that these young people are at risk of violence or sexual assault. And, alarmingly, young homeless people are twice as likely to die compared to their peers*.
Forty-eight per cent of homeless young people are being forced to mix sofa-surfing and temporary accommodation with periods of sleeping rough – in parks, in the street, wherever they can.
