Homeless people in Edinburgh, and rough sleepers on the Isle of Wight, are seeing innovative plans rolled out to get them off the streets.
In Edinburgh, Scotland’s first village for the homeless is to be built. The 10-home site in Granton will provide a low-cost, safe place to live for up to 20 people, who will also be given the chance to learn new skills. Social Bite, which is behind the ambitious plan, said the model would end the vicious cycle of homelessness, and they’re well on their way to raising the £500,000 needed to get the project off the ground.
Meanwhile, further south, the scheme to deal with street homelessness is rather more mobile.
