“I was tired but I was glad I’d made the showing happen that night” CV I grew up on the ocean in South Florida. My first childhood memories are tarpon fishing the canals of northern Fort Lauderdale on a 12ft Carolina skiff. I regularly went to the Bahamas on family boats and spent many childhood summers in the Abacos, Exumas and Southern Bahamas. It seemed a natural fit to find work on board sportfishing boats and motor yachts after college. I travelled extensively throughout the Bahamas and Florida, fishing in Billfish tournaments. MONACO Sales drop, prices stable Last year represented something of a record year for property sales in Monaco with IMSEE, the government statistics agency, recording a new benchmark for average price per square metre of €41,401. Sales have, however, decreased in number since the start of 2017, says Irene Luke, head of Savills Monaco: "They are down 23% compared with last quarter of last year.” Not that it should deter buyers, however. What do you think will be the key yacht design trends in the next 12 months? Trends should have nothing to do with yacht design, and everything to do with hairstyles and fashion - things that can go in and out of date in a year or two. Yacht design’s main focus should be on longevity, practical engineering, creative space planning and facilities based on real life at sea. Trendy styling for the sake of itself can lead to a vessel being out of date before it’s even out of the build shed! Overly exercised stylistic trends might be okay on a sportsboat that has a short life due to replacement models being readily introduced.
