I love designing cottages,” says designer Michelle Berwick. “Clients are willing to push the boundaries more than they would in their primary home.” This client, Trisha Rasmussen, was no different and happy to take risks when it came to renovating her Balsam Lake, Ont., cottage, including these bathrooms. “We were both, quite frankly, bored of all-white schemes,” says Michelle, who layered in liveliness, from loon-printed wallpaper and scalloped tiles to shades of soft blush and dark blue. She says, “Life at the cottage should evoke fun, and these carefree rooms do just that.”
