The Welsh Highland Railway continues to outperform its sister railway, the Ffestiniog, with higher passenger takings - but it’s a close-run thing.
The parent company registered a profit of £268,680 last year, an increase of over 10%, and shareholders heard in July of plans for an ambitious programme of improvement to take place in the year ahead.
The surplus compares with £240,157 in 2014, despite the turnover falling slightly to £4,773,364, attributed to a wet season.
Traffic revenue on the WHR (£1,544,957), continues to outpace the FR (£1,517,401). Gross profit on catering and shops was down on both lines, while on-train services returned £92,636 gross profit, nearly £20,000 up on the previous year.
