Johannesburg motorists will face road closures on Saturday as Gauteng authorities launch joint traffic operations ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), together with the Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP), South Africa Police Service and the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), said the operation will lead to temporary road closures, lane restrictions and intermittent disruptions between 09h00 and 13h00.
According to the joint statement, the operation will focus on high-security routes, including major national highways and key urban roads.
Affected routes include the N1, M1, and N12, as well as Rivonia Road, Grayston Drive, Oxford Road, Jan Smuts Avenue, Winnie Mandela Drive, Hendrick Potgieter Road, Rand Show Road, Nasrec Road, and the Golden Highway.
Motorists are urged to plan and make use of alternative routes.
