In a major crackdown, Tshwane police arrested 345 suspects and recovered an unlicensed firearm in Mamelodi and Mamelodi-West during Operation Shanela.
Tshwane district police spokesperson, Captain Johan van Dyk, stated that the operation targeted key priorities, such as seizing unlicensed firearms, apprehending wanted suspects, and ensuring compliance with liquor licence regulations.
He added that the first phase of the operation resulted in arrests for gender-based violence (GBV), assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, murder, robbery, and rape.
