South Africans are witnessing a historic global development with the Brics 2023 summit being hosted in this country.
Last week, the Friends of Brics gathering was held in Cape Town.
The precursor to the main event, set to take place in Johannesburg in August, was a meeting of the foreign ministers of BRICS – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
Also present at the gathering were delegations from Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros, Gabon and Kazakhstan; while Egypt, Argentina, Bangladesh, Guinea-Bissau and Indonesia attended virtually.
The participating nations are a group of developing countries seeking cooperation, collaboration and multilaterlism in the bloc.
