THE ANC national policy conference has come and gone.
Held at Nasrec, Soweto, this past week, this policy conference was, in some ways, not like any other. Yet in many other ways, it was just like all the previous conferences.
This time, the conference was held in a political climate of uncertainty for the governing party. Its secretary-general, Ace Magashule, is on suspension.
And just two weeks ago, the country mourned the passing of its deputy secretary-general, Jessie Duarte.
Beyond the party’s management structures, it is engulfed in intense internal civil war – with different factions vying for power at the national conference to be held in December.
Just last week, the newly- minted KwaZulu-Natal ANC provincial executive – known as the “Taliban” – vowed to continue supporting former president…
