President Cyril Ramaphosa has denied that he is “liable for the Marikana Massacre”, saying a recent court judgment has in four instances cleared him of direct responsibility for the tragedy that took place in August 2012. The Correctional Services Department confirmed that Mdluli was placed on parole, effective from yesterday. The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) and trade union Solidarity accepted Eskom’s 7% wage increase offer, bringing to an end a week-long industrial action. New roads create more traffic and more pollution, and do not alleviate congestion. This has been proved worldwide. AMSTERDAM: Police across Europe have arrested abut 130 people suspected of involvement in human trafficking in a joint operation carried out by 22 countries, the international police agency Europol said yesterday.
