Siphokazi Vuso siphokazi.vuso@inl.co.za A GROUP of LGBTIQ+ organisations have launched a petition calling on South African leaders to take action against hate crime murders, that have left the community living in fear.
This comes as the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOB) was celebrated on Monday.
According to the petition, started by the Enough is Enough Collective, in the space of three months, South Africa's LGBTIQ+ community has been rocked by a series of brutal hate crimes against its members.
“At least six (now eight) lives – that we know of – have been snuffed out in cold blood. From KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng, from the Eastern Cape to the Western Cape,” the group said.
