When Chelsea decided to pull out of the Super League, it did bring a smile to my face, and when it started the domino effect of the other five Premier League clubs – Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, United and Tottenham – following suit, it was pleasing.
It seems the backlash was just the right amount of outrage and pressure from fans, players and their government, that their greed was outweighed by common decency.
And make no mistake, this was all about money, power and greed.
Football on the whole is a business, its clubs the corporations, the broadcasters and sponsors the investors, the pundits stockbrokers, and supporters customers.
The beautiful game has not…
