In February 2023, Elinne Becket found some long-forgotten leftovers in her fridge. What had once been her mother's delicious beef soup had turned a bright and off-putting shade of blue. The Confederacy of Independent Systems opted for droid armies for several important reasons. Preferring mindless loyalty over flesh-and-blood improvisation, the Separatists enjoyed the ability to easily control their forces. The preexisting droid security forces, built by the likes of the Trade Federation and the Separatists' other business entities, permitted them to quickly raise these armies. The Separatists had a financial advantage, as its members' corporate wealth and the Banking Clan's credit reserves furnished them with the ability to invest in their droid foundries.
