Collectors of Kenner's original Star Wars action figure line, which ran from 1978 to 1985, may be interested in an auction taking place in February 2023. Recently uncovered in a warehouse, stored in factory-fresh cardboard boxes since the 1980s, a horde of carded, original trilogy action figures numbering more than 450 will go under the hammer at Morphy Auctions on February 1, with no reserve price. Art often inspires more art, and such was the case with Maria Maychack and Beau Hickey's decision to create a cosplay mash-up of Star Wars and Shakespeare. “The idea was born from a conversation we had while driving home from a convention,” shares Maychack. ”Star Wars and historical clothing came up because I had received Ian Doescher's book William Shakespeare's Star Wars Trilogy for Christmas, and it had inspired me to make a Tudor-style dress.” Maychack was unsure which Star Wars characters to base her design on, and Hickey suggested R2-D2 and a red-armed C-3PO. The idea for The Mandalorian was, in part, an homage to the film Lone Wolf and Cub (1972) featuring a Ronin samurai wandering Japan with a small child by his side.
