Thousands of shooters were following Nick Harvey before social media existed. He answered questions with technical expertise and wit, he told hunting stories the way he would do over a cuppa at his humble abode, and he reviewed products in an independent and professional manner.
My association with Nick began through my father, the late Keith Herron, whom Nick credited as the man who encouraged him to become a sportswriter. Over the many years of our association, we hunted together (including my first hunt), we visited overseas manufacturers, tested some products, and lastly, he entrusted to me his final book, Deer Hunting in Australia, for distribution.
