DISTRIBUTION: Found across much of the northern hemisphere. Also introduced to New Zealand.
UK DISTRIBUTION: Occurs naturally throughout mainland Britain and Ireland. Also found on the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, and some of the Scottish islands (Bute, Islay, Jura, Mull, Raasay, Shetland and Skye)
