Tell us about your company… The idea for Malton Yarns started during 2021 – I remember trying to find a specific colour for a blanket I was crocheting but couldn't, so I decided to dye it up myself. Lots (and lots!) of trial and error over the next year or so and Malton Yarns was born. I am a small batch dyer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. What can knitters find in your shop? STAR LETTER DOWN ON THE FARM I was very taken with the Farm Playset (Issue 235) but don't have any little people who would enjoy it. I do, however, knit cot blankets for charity and decided to adapt the squares. My first attempt was a mono colour blanket which I decided to do in one piece rather than in squares to save the dreaded sewing up. To increase the level of difficulty, I also added a cable strip at either end. Not sure what I was thinking there as it seemed straightforward… After much pulling back and muttering, I finally finished it. 1 Choose a pattern and colourway you really like. Changing styles and colours at a first attempt may bring unintended consequences. Pick something you know you will wear – a hat, gloves or a jumper or waistcoat. 2 Use the wool specified in the pattern. When their beloved mother spent her final weeks in the Marie Curie Hospice in Belfast, the sisters were touched by the support they received by the team. Wanting to give something back in memory of their mum, as well as to help others in their time of need, they decided to raise money for the hospice, and through their fundraising efforts, have managed to donate an impressive £500 so far!
