The days are getting longer, the sky is getting bluer and we’re really in the mood for all those springtime knits! For me a spring knit is about cooler, lighter yarns and calmer, softer colours, but that doesn’t mean it’s the same for everyone. COSY UP I manage the National Trust of Guernsey Victorian Shop and Parlour in St Peter Port. The property has been a shop since 1760 and retains many of the original features, which includes ships’ timbers from 1600 on the ground floor. GREEN GODDESS I decided I needed a challenge and found this toddler’s top in my magazine cut-outs from 2004. My first challenge came when I had to pick up stitches for the frill, which was knitted sideways – there weren’t enough stitches! After big discussions in my knit’n’natter group we solved the problem, then one of our members went into Ravelry, found the pattern and – lo and behold – there was an erratum for the same problem. We’d solved it correctly!
