Pocket page scrapbooking is really popular and it’s no wonder, I particularly enjoy its streamlined and fuss-free focus to capture everyday life. All of the major brands are now creating cards to complement their lines including some really fun interactive designs incorporating gold foil, acetate and more. I love that by purchasing a small kit, you get mini versions of a collection with all the key elements at a great price. The prints of the designs are generally smaller too, which, similarly to paper pads, allows you to mix designs and patterns in a way you can’t with the 12 x 12 versions. Metal embellishments are a fabulous way to add dimension and texture to a page. However there is nothing more frustrating than having the ‘perfect’ metal embellishment in your stash except for the fact it has the wrong metallic finish! When you think of all of the metallic finishes around, for example gold, brass, copper or silver just to name a few, it’s easy to see how hard it can be to match up embellishments! However you don’t need to have a huge stash of metal pieces in every metallic finish imaginable. It’s fun to play around with different mediums and alter the embellishments colour to co-ordinate with your page and other embellishments. I always get asked how I add colour to my layouts so easily. The answer is generally always the same, I have a fantastic range of paint products in my stash that make it super easy to create the most amazing and colourful effects on any layout I need. Colour Blast products are definitely my favourite go-to-brand of paints at the moment. As scrapbookers, we are very good at recording and celebrating the achievements of our children, or friends and family. All of our loved ones have most likely had a page created for them celebrating something special. But how often do we stop to celebrate our creative achievements. I bet you can look back on your creative efforts from a few years ago and see a difference in how you express yourself from then until now. I can almost guarantee you haven’t stopped to celebrate this achievement let alone recorded it. Learning to see our achievements and then to celebrate these is an essential part of our creative journey. MAKING BUTTERFLIES WITH MAGICALS 1 STEP 1: Lightly spray a piece of smooth cardstock (like Smooth White by Kaisercraft) with water on both sides. This will help your paper not to warp in step 2. Pick up a tiny amount of Magicals with a wide, fluffy brush and sprinkle it across your cardstock by tapping on the brush. Go lightly, you can always add more later.
