Time, nature and love: some of life’s most valuable assets, and arguably the most worthy of our celebration. It’s a notion at the centre of Van Cleef & Arpels’ newest exhibition, hosted at Seoul’s renowned D Museum, and aptly titled Van Cleef & Arpels: Time, Nature, Love. The retrospective is a revelry of over three hundred jewellery creations, timepieces and precious objects produced over the course of a century since the Maison’s founding. Recently, did my first-ever holotropic breathwork class. The new-ish practice involves controlled, quickened breathing patterns to shift your emotional or physical state. Unlike other ancient forms of breathwork, it was only developed in the 70s, after LSD use was banned. It’s pretty close to hyperventilating, and the idea is that you’ll move into an altered state of consciousness in order to facilitate healing, move through trauma or experience a sense of enlightenment. Because of this, little is really known about the practices of Eros worship compared to other gods and goddesses, although he pops up in myths regularly.
