Knowing how lonely some of our elderly ex-players are, they’ve set up a club each Friday for former team-mates aged 70-plus to meet up. They’ve fed them too. THE RECENT Champions Cup game between Exeter and Glasgow showed us how not to referee under pressure and gave us one of the most bemusing ends to a top contest by French ref Pierre Brousset. At the end of an exciting encounter, Exeter had a scrum seven metres from their goal-line. With the clock beyond 80 minutes and a slim two-point lead to protect, all the Chiefs needed to do was get the ball off the Sandy Park field.
