AMISH WATSON is pondering the job awaiting Scotland in the Six Nations, a schedule that sees them visiting Twickenham, a place where they haven’t won in his lifetime, and Paris, where they haven’t won since he was seven.
“I don’t want to sound like an arsehole,” he says, “but you have to believe in yourself, right? You have to have a bit of arrogance about you. Those are massive challenges against two of the best teams in the world, but why can’t we win?
“Why can’t we win our three home games? I expect us to win them. People might read that and think, ‘Oh yeah?’, but all good teams have a bit of arrogance about them, they all have a quiet aura, don’t they? Nothing wrong with it.”
