After a third-place finish in National Three South-West last spring, Lydney have hit leaner times. But captain Sam Arnott, a scrum-half who was also in charge last season, and second-in-command Chris Holder, a centre/wing, are determined to turn things around in the second half of this campaign.
The first team won only four of their first ten games, their best victory being a 26-25 nail-biter at Salisbury, where they overturned a half-time deficit and secured a try bonus point. Rhys Oakley, the Hartpury College and former Yorkshire Carnegie and Wales back-rower, is Lydney’s head coach, Dave Emery looks after the United XV and they have 100 mini-juniors.
