For many years, from the early 1900s until 1981, the Jewel Tea man, driving his brown panel truck, visited households all over America, delivering tea, coffee, and other staple goods such as sugar, flour and baking soda, as well as numerous household supplies.
A college student in 1956, I was fortunate to be a substitute for the regular Jewel Tea man on my summer vacation.
