Feature stories are always a labor of love for the editorial team, and this month’s pair is no exception. The charm bracelet story, “Wrist Journals” on page 38, held personal meaning for Senior Editor Mary-Liz Shaw, who wove her memories about her mother and the charms she collected for her bracelet into the mix. I connected more to the feature “Rock the House” on page 32. I grew up in the 1960s on Chicago’s south side in a neighborhood with garages and alleyways. All the neighborhood kids would gather in the alley at the end of the block to watch Butchie and Donny play guitar and drums.
