The Class 67s have proved to be versatile locomotives, able to operate both on freight and passenger workings. The first to arrive in the UK was 67003, which was unloaded from Newport Docks on October 6, 1999, with the remainder all delivered during 2000. They have gone on to become one of the most colourful fleets of locomotives in the UK, with members carrying an array of liveries, ensuring they remain popular with enthusiasts and photographers.
The 30 locomotives were built for English Welsh & Scottish Railways by GEC Alsthom under licence to General Motors, in Valencia, Spain, being delivered to the UK in EWS red and gold colours.
