It’s silly season in politics once again, which signals that there is an election due. No, not the US Presidential, that’s following its own hazy, wavy path. This is the presidency of the FIA, the sport’s governing body, and it has already started to get a little fruity.
Deputy president, Robert Reid, has resigned; the head of Motorsport UK, David Richards, has publicly called out the FIA on transparency; the Formula 1 and World Rally Championship drivers are up in arms due to what they see as over regulation. In the latter case, they protested a driver’s fine for swearing by answering stage-end interview questions in their mother tongue or not at all.
