I was thinking about quilting the other day and what about it is my favorite part of the process. I decided it’s piecing the quilt top. I love seeing how the different fabrics and shapes come together. I think this is also evidenced by the number of tops I have in a pile in my sewing room. I wish I could have been there when someone first floated the idea of pre-cutting fabric for quilters. I wonder if anyone said, “Nobody will want fabric that’s already cut up.” Did someone worry, “It will limit the choices of what people can make?” Was there concern over the expense, the cutting accuracy or the marketing? About our Patterns We recommend that you read all of the instructions before starting a project and that you cut and sew one block before cutting all of your fabric. Using a rotary cutter, mat and an acrylic ruler, cut the shape to the size indicated in the cutting list. Pressing tabs indicate the direction to press the seam allowances. Our patterns list finished block sizes, which are typically ½" smaller than unfinished block sizes because they do not include seam allowances.
