THE letter “How could Indian Muslims be forgotten?” (the POST, September 29-October 3) is another example of people playing the victim.
The consul general of India forgot to greet Indian Muslims on Heritage Day, the writer bewailed. But Anish Rajan forgot nothing. His Heritage Day message did not single out any religious group, Indian or otherwise, whether Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Jews, Jains, Parsis or whatever. It was directed at South Africans, regardless of race or faith.
The greetings he used were: Good Morning, Namaste, Vanakkam, Sanbonani, Molweni. Namaste is a pan-Indian greeting used by Indians regardless of faith. Similarly, the Tamil greeting Vanakkam is also used by Tamil speakers, regardless of faith. Good morning, Sanbonani, Molweni can also be used by people of all faiths. Why does the writer feel…
