The July issue of Plane & Pilot included a comprehensive reply in Ask P&P from George Moore to a reader’s question about permitting landings on his private strip. Mr. Moore is correct that landowners need to be aware of pertinent laws, such as their state’s recreational use statutes (RUS). They address limited liability protection for private landowners that allows others to use their land without charge for activities like hunting, hiking, snowmobiling or biking.
While Mr. Moore brings up legitimate concerns, readers should know that the Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF) mission is to protect and create recreational aviation destinations.
