My daughter, Lilly-May, was thrilled with her big helium birthday balloon when she turned 8 this June .
And, four days on, it was still bobbing over the sofa.
‘Let’s watch it fly away,’ I suggested.
My other kids, Shannan, 16, Brendon, 9, and Evie-Leigh, 5, agreed.
‘And I’ll attach a note, so whoever finds it can tell us,’ Lilly-May declared.
Excited, she wrote her name, age and town, asking whoever found it to share their find on Facebook.
Then the wind whisked the balloon into the clouds, and - assuming it’d land across town and be binned - I forgot about it.
Three weeks on, a pal on Facebook sent me a link to the Lancashire Telegraph.
A man in Germany had found Lilly-May’s balloon!
