As a baby, my daughter, Henrietta, had an unusual babysitter... A sheepdog named Fell!
I’m a sheepdog trainer, so I’d head into our fields and secure Henrietta’s basket safe in the roots of a nearby oak tree.
Protective and loyal, Fell wouldn’t leave her side.
Growing up around animals, Henrietta loved walking the dogs.
I also run dog obedience classes and, soon, Henrietta volunteered to help.
At 6, I gave Henrietta her own sheepdog puppy, Lad, to practice her skills.
Learning tricks together, she developed a great bond with Lad.
To date, she’s trained Lad, now 7, another sheepdog, Sell, 4, and two Labradors, Purdy, 1, and Nala, 8 months.
In 1990, I was the first woman to win the competition One Man and His Dog.
But I hadn’t come…
