Our 7-month-old bulldog crossbreed, Jaden, bounded into our home, in October 2003.
Energetic and friendly, he soon became part of the family.
My wife, Madelon, 35, and I enjoyed taking him on long walks.
When we had our daughter, Lynn, in September 2010, Jaden became fiercely protective of her.
He'd lie beside her cot, trot beside her pram in the park.
When Lynn started toddling, he'd let her gently tug his tail, give him huge hugs.
'Such a softie,' Madelon smiled.
One day, Lynn dressed him up in a tiara, declared him a princess.
When our second daughter, Jenna, arrived, Jaden became a faithful companion to her, too.
Sadly, Jaden passed away in September last year. Lynn spent the last moments with him.
It's sad, but Jaden won't be with…
